Product Introduction

Winter tires are the most beneficial upgrade for driving in cold climates. TRI-ACE Snow White II is purpose-built to deliver maximum traction in snow, slush, sleet and even on ice. Driving through one winter storm on a set of Snow White II should convince you-they're worth the price, and they can save your life.

Only tires with three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) icon on the sidewall are qualified to be sold as winter tires. This means they meet the minimum requirements agreed upon by the tire industry to accelerate in snow with 10 percent more traction than a comparable all-season tire.

Much as summer tires are optimized for warm weather, Snow White II use compounds that remain softer and pliable in below-freezing temperatures. They have more aggressive tread patterns to trap snow (which actually improves grip on snow) and disperse the water layer atop ice that causes regular tires to slip. In severe winter conditions, a vehicle on Snow White II will accelerate, steer, and most importantly, stop quicker than a vehicle on all-season tires.

FAQ

1, Are There any Downsides to Winter Tires?

Winter tires are specifically engineered to optimize grip in freezing temperatures and outperform all-season tires in snow and ice. Winter tire compounds are softer than all-season or warm-climate performance tires. Greater cold-weather grip means more friction, which consumes more fuel, while the more aggressive tread patterns may return more noticeable road noise.

Additionally, the softer compound means that they're more susceptible to wear and don't last as long as harder all-season or performance tires. For some, having to swap out winter tires every season is also an additional maintenance cost, which can be an issue if money is tight. But if you can swing it, the peace of mind and safety that winter tires provide is priceless.

2, Are There Different Types of Winter Tires?

Yes. Performance winter tires are geared toward sports cars. applications; normal winter tires, which can fit most vehicles; ones geared for light and heavy-duty trucks; all-terrain winter tires for the off-road gurus; and as of late, winter tires geared towards EVs. Figuring out which winter tire is best for your application depends on where you plan to drive during the snowy season and your type of vehicle. There are also studded, studdable, or studdless tires, which we explain below.

3, How Do I Know if I Need Studded, Studdable, or Studless Winter Tires?

In addition to the grade of tires, there are three different types of winter tires. Studded tires are specifically for the most extreme winter conditions like hard-packed snow and ice; studdable tires are studless tires that can have studs retrofitted; and studless tires, which make up most average winter tires.

It's important to look up your local laws as studded tires, or studdable tires with the intent of adding studs, are illegal, to reduce road wear. It's only in more extreme winter climates, such as Canada and through Rocky Mountain passes that studded winter tires are road-legal.
