How The Pattern Is Designed!

May 19, 2023

Tire pattern design is the main core technology of tire development. Pattern design is closely related to tire performance. Today, I will tell you how the pattern is designed!

1. Design ideas

Here are a few things to keep in mind when designing tire treads:

1. The tread pattern will affect the traction and braking force of the car, so consider the grip of the tire

2. The performance of the tire will change a lot after being heated. To ensure the stability of the tire, the heat dissipation performance should also be considered;

3. Consider the wear resistance of tires;

4. Consider reducing noise;

5. Consider comfort.

The above is just a general idea. In fact, in the process of design, there are many contradictions. Therefore, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the overall performance of the tire to design a suitable tread pattern that meets the needs of users.

Second, consider the tire pattern and physical properties

There are many styles of tire patterns, which are mainly divided into ordinary patterns, off-road patterns and mixed patterns.

1. Ordinary pattern

Ordinary patterns are suitable for driving on asphalt roads and concrete roads, and have good longitudinal and lateral grip performance. Among them, ordinary patterns also have different classifications, namely horizontal patterns, longitudinal patterns and patterns combined with horizontal and vertical patterns.

The transverse pattern has good traction and braking force, is resistant to cutting and has strong grip, but has large rolling resistance, high noise, and is easy to side slip, and is not suitable for high-speed driving.

Most of the longitudinal patterns are used in car tires. The pattern has low rolling resistance, low noise, and is not easy to side slip. It has good handling performance and driving comfort, but its braking force and wet stability are poor, and the grooves are easy to embed small stones. Cracking is prone to occur.

2. Off-road pattern

Off-road patterns are high-performance driving patterns, which are suitable for relatively uneven roads. There are also two types of off-road patterns, one is a directional pattern, and the other is a non-directional pattern.

The anti-skid performance of the directional pattern side is better, and it can be unobstructed on the muddy road.

Undirected patterns are easy to accumulate mud, and the mud discharge performance is relatively poor.

Mixed pattern

The mixed pattern is a comprehensive design of the ordinary pattern and the off-road pattern. The middle part of the tread is a longitudinal pattern, and the two sides of the shoulder are horizontal patterns. The mixed pattern takes into account the advantages of the longitudinal and horizontal patterns, and the road adaptability is extremely strong, and it is more widely used.
