Precautions For The Use Of Tire Tread

May 17, 2023

1. Choose a more appropriate pattern tire according to the road conditions and vehicle speed frequently used by the vehicle. For vehicles that drive at medium speed on general hard roads, trucks and buses, etc. should use transverse patterns or tires with both vertical and horizontal patterns; for vehicles that often drive on highways and good hard roads, they should use good heat dissipation and lateral stability. Strong longitudinal pattern and both vertical and horizontal pattern tires.

2. With the increase of vehicle speed, the water between the tread and the road surface will form a water film before it can be removed, and the tire will be slowly lifted up, and under certain conditions or even completely off the road surface, the car will completely lose its maneuverability. This phenomenon is called the "water skiing phenomenon" of tires. There are many factors that affect the critical speed of water skiing, but the tire tread pattern and conviction are one of the main factors. For cars that often drive on highways, if possible, try to choose anti-skid tires (see Figure 5). The main feature of this pattern is that a wide drainage ditch (main ditch) is designed in the middle of the tread to form a larger drainage space between the tire and the road surface. There are side grooves leading to the sidewalls in the two main grooves, so the drainage distance is short and the drainage efficiency is high, thereby maximizing the "water skiing" that may occur when the tires are driven at high speed on wet roads, and improving the safety of driving .

It is worth noting that this pattern is directional, so be careful when installing it.

3. The direction of rotation of directional tread tires is usually indicated by "arrows" moulded on the sidewalls and marks. If it rotates in the direction of the arrows, that is, the tip of the "herringbone" pattern touches the ground first, it is said to be placed in the forward direction, and vice versa. Rotate.

Anti-skid tires are always placed in the forward direction to improve the drainage efficiency, while the reverse placement will have a worse drainage efficiency than non-ski tires.

Off-road directional pattern tires, if installed on the drive axle, they should rotate in the same direction. The tip of the "herringbone" pattern is embedded in the snow and mud like a chain, which has a strong grasping ability, and the slush embedded in the pattern groove can be removed from both sides After being squeezed out, the pattern is self-cleaning; if the cross-country patterned tire installed on the driven axle does not output traction, in order to reduce rolling resistance and wear, it should be rotated in the opposite direction.
